This course is suitable for all companies, particularly those with a large number of employees or businesses working in a high-risk environment. The aim of the HSE three Day First Aid at Work course is to ensure you understand the importance of safe, prompt and effective treatment of injuries and ill health in the workplace.
Course Units and Contents:
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in the event of an emergency
- Unconsciousness
- CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation)
- Choking
- Wounds and bleeding
- Shock
- Burns and scalds
- Injuries to bones, muscles and joints including spinal injuries
- Eye injuries
- Sudden poisoning
- Anaphylactic shock
- Major illness and provide appropriate first aid
Pre-requisites:
Candidates must be physically able to carry out the procedures detailed in the course outline.
Validity:
Successful delegates will receive an HSE approved First Aid At Work certificate, which is valid for three years.
Course duration:
This course runs over 3 days. The assessment will be held on the last day of the course. Candidates must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment.
